“Jamie Brewster is a magical, unicorn of safety and calm. If I had to pick one person in the world to be by my side during birth, it would be her. (And my husband is wonderful and I still said what I said) Jamie has a way about reading a room and filling the spaces that are needing her energy. She never pushed her way, she never coerced, she never stepped on the toes of my mom, mother-in-law or husband. She just offered her calm presence and healing hands when it was welcomed and really was my rock. With that said, she also gently maneuvered people in or out when needed without them even knowing. I did a homebirth after cesarean, an HBAC, during the first week of April 2020. The beginning of COVID. I had also had Hyperemesis Gravidarum during my pregnancy so I was entering the birth with a lot of anxiety and fear. She also was not the doula I hired, but the backup doula who showed up when my person was unable to stay. It was a high stress time and Jamie just slowed everything down and got me straight. She made me believe I could do it. SHE believed I could do it. She kept me focused and centered on my goal. She worked well with my midwife and I felt that they were a good team together. I tell people that I never panicked at any point during my birth, because I felt so held. It was hard, it was emotional and it was painful, but I was not in panic mode. That is largely because of Jamie. My husband was so supportive and present, but also is not a woman. I felt that Jamie really created a space that empowered him and my mother to support me in the ways that were useful to me and not just fluff. He always tells people that my homebirth was the most powerful event. This woman is a gem and I will know her for my whole life. Do yourself the favor of having her at your birth. You will love her forever. I promise.”
